Rozenburg
Rozenburg is one of the (former agricultural) islands of South Holland. With its wide polders, quiet waters and reed beds, farms and workers’ houses, it consisted of hamlets such as the Zuidzijde and Blankenburg.

The 3000 residents knew each other from the cradle as one big family and many old people have never left the island. Separated from Maassluis and Hoek van Holland by the Waterweg, which was excavated with shovels and wheelbarrows in 1872. All this had to make way around 1960 for the advancing industry.

The island has since changed beyond recognition. With the prosperity and luxury in mind, it has nevertheless brought a lot of homesickness. Due to the large employment opportunities that have now arisen, many workers’ houses were built in the neighborhood.

The present Rozenburg.
In the past decades, it became surrounded by the industrial areas of Botlek and Europoort. Yet the 20 km. long island still retains its village character and tranquility. In addition, unique and extensive nature areas such as the Landtong and the Beer (largely excavated in 1955 for the Maasvlakte) have remained in the midst of the industrial revolution.

Goeree-Overflakkee
The quiet village of Den Bommel is located between the polders of Goeree-Overflakkee on the Haringvliet (3 minutes walking distance). The village borders the Beleefbos and a protected nature reserve where you can cycle in between grazing buffalo. The cozy marina, the warm bakery with ice cream parlor, a restaurant in Western-Style and the large luxury snack bar make you comfortable.

For other necessities, everything is available in the shopping center within a 10-minute drive. After the hustle and bustle around you and the hectic pace of work, you step into another world here: a place to relax.
